The federal CARES Act programs provide economic assistance to unemployed workers.

  • Pandemic Unemployment Assistance - benefits to individuals who became unemployed because of COVID-19 and are not eligible for regular benefits.
    • For Self-Employed
    • For Low Wage Earners
    • For Workers with Pending or Denied Issues
  • Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation – adds an additional $300 to weekly benefit payments.
  • Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation - adds an additional 13 weeks to a claimant’s unemployment benefits claim once they exhaust benefits.

December’s total nonfarm jobs exceed pre-pandemic peak for the first time

Idaho’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 4.4 percent in December, and nonfarm payrolls regained 4,900 jobs as the state’s economy continues to recover.

The Idaho Department of Labor has partnered with ID.me for unemployment insurance claimant identity verification.

The information gathered from claimants is needed to make sure others are not filing claims using the person’s name and other personally identifying information. This is one step Labor is taking to help prevent fraud.
