Hiring Without Barriers: Creating Universal Design Hiring Practices

The Idaho Division of Vocational Rehabilitation is hosting a training to discuss the accessible hiring process. The process helps employers attract qualified candidates, reduce barriers and build a stronger workforce. This session provides practical guidance on how to design recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding practices that are accessible and welcoming to individuals with disabilities. Participants will explore strategies to reduce unintentional bias, improve compliance, and create hiring experiences that allow candidates to demonstrate their true skills and potential.

Topics include:
• Identifying and removing barriers in job postings, applications, and interviews
• Accessible communication strategies throughout the hiring process
• Understanding reasonable accommodations during recruitment and onboarding
• Reducing bias and focusing on essential job functions
• Building inclusive onboarding practices that support retention
