The Idaho Department of Labor is hosting a hiring event and resource fair at the Nampa Public Library.
Description
Employers will be available to speak to qualified applicants about a variety of positions. These will be announced soon.
A schedule of speakers are lined up to educate the community on resources related to the department and labor market information. The schedule follows:
12:30 p.m. to 1 – Earl Hoover, M.Ed., CRC – Idaho Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired
- This discussion will explore challenges toward employment faced by persons who are blind or visually impaired. It will explain what the Idaho Commission For The Blind And Visually Impaired is, and the services it provides to individual citizens of Idaho as well as how it can support businesses that want to encourage a diverse culture within.
1 to 1:30 p.m. – Tate Sanders, MBA Business Services Specialist – Idaho Division of Vocational Rehabilitation
- This presentation will explore essential tools and services that empower young individuals with disabilities to thrive in today’s job market. Learn how the Idaho Division of Vocational Rehabilitation’s Pre-Employment Transition Services support students ages 14–21 in building job readiness, exploring career paths and gaining valuable work experience. Plus, discover the five key things every jobseeker should know about requesting reasonable accommodations—what they are, how to ask and how they can help you succeed.
1:30 to 2 p.m. – Jan Roeser, Economist – Idaho Department of Labor
- This presentation will explore how the Treasure Valley has grown and changed. Which industries and occupations have been affected the most? What do we expect going forward?
2 to 2:30 p.m.– Ben Earwicker, J.D., Ph.D., Administrator of the Idaho Human Rights Commission
- In this presentation by the Idaho Human Rights Commission’s administrator, participants will hear information about discrimination complaints in Idaho and how to report, prevent and avoid formal, legal charges of discrimination. Participants will also learn best practices when filing or responding to a complaint of discrimination, as well as general information about the Commission’s processes and services.
A taco truck will also be on-site at the event.
